English singer-songwriter and producer from Bexleyheath, Kent, who broke through in 1978 with 'Wuthering Heights' and became one of the era's most singular art-pop voices. For 1985's Hounds of Love she built her own 48-track home studio in a converted barn at her family's East Wickham Farm, giving her full creative and production control for the first time and letting her use the Fairlight CMI sampler as a compositional tool rather than just an effect.
